Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by "all-natural" soap?

Our definition of "all-natural" is very simple. All natural means that we only use the finest, whole ingredients to make out soaps and never add synthetic colorants, fragrances, preservatives, lathering agents, or artificial additives of any kind. We start with an olive oil base, add our special blend of vegetable oils, and color and scent our soaps with a mix of herbs, spices, and high quality essential oils.

What do you mean by "handcrafted?"

By "handcrafted," we mean exactly that. Each bar of Parkinson Soap is made by hand, from start to finish. Using the Cold Process method, we make our soap in small batches to ensure quality and to preservethe properties of handcrafted soap.

Are your soaps vegetarian?

Our soaps are vegetarian and vegan friendly. All of our soaps are made from an olive and vegetable oil base, and we don't test our products on animals.

What is in your vegetable oil base?

We use a 4-Vegetable Oil Blend - Olive, Coconut, Palm and Castor -which makes for one of the most luxurious soaps money can buy. Here's why:

Olive Oil

Used for centuries in skincare, luxuriant and moisturizing olive oil is the chief ingredient in all our soaps. Olive oil is high in antioxidants, especially Vitamin E, which nourishes skin, encourages healing and possesses anti-aging benefits. World renowned for its skin loving properties, we use olive oil in our soaps because it is a gentle, effective humectant, drawing moisture into the skin leaving it soft and supple.

Coconut Oil

Prized in soapmaking, coconut oil gives our soap its rich, creamy lather. Good for all skin types, coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer and produces a gorgeous lather without harsh booster agents like sodium laureth sulfate. The big, fluffy and lightweight bubbles that coconut oil creates add an extra dimension to our handmade soaps. Coconut oil fights free-radical damage in skin and is known for its healing and beautifying properties.

Palm Oil

Considered a luxury vegetable oil, palm oil is chock full beta carotenes and antioxidants like Vitamin E. A recent study found that the alpha-tocopheral (the most biologically active form of Vitamin E) derived from palm oil can accelerate dermal healing, making it a useful treatment alternative for skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, and acne. We use palm oil in our soaps to give structure to the bar and helps produce a rich, long lasting lather.

Castor Oil

Castor Oil is well known for its medicinal uses, but the benefits of castor oil when used topically are much more pleasant. Castor oil imparts a creamy, bubbly quality to our soap, and yields a bar that is as long-lasting as it is moisturizing. Castor Oil has many other desirable qualities as well: it is anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and a humectant to boot. Soothing, smoothing and rich in fatty acids, castor oil is an essential ingredient in producing a beautiful bar of soap.
